How to keep your drift event crew updated during live competition

The short answer

Keep one official source for competition information, give the crew a shared view, and agree who handles corrections. Fewer repeated score lookups leave staff more time for their own jobs.

Keep the crew in the picture.
Actual QDC commentator dashboard, display logic and season-history renderer with fictional drivers, scores and history. Labels, branding and compact presentation adapted. Local feeds, mode changes and result publication are simulated; Firebase presence and hold controls are disabled. Historical context depends on reviewed records. No live event or result changes occur. The qualifying view shows Driver A, then refreshes Run 2 and Best to 96.4 from a sample feed. Battle mode keeps unconfirmed votes hidden, then shows a published two-to-one decision for Driver A. The actual history panel expands to driver facts and supported talking-point suggestions from fictional supplied records. The final view shows sample season standings. Commentators still verify facts and deliver the commentary. 1Assign ownership of the official information

Choose who operates Live Judging, selects the current qualifying driver and records official scores. Agree how judges and event staff report a correction to that operator. Avoid maintaining competing score sheets.

The live system remains the source for scores and results. Other staff can follow the information without being responsible for entering or approving it.

2Give each role the same competition reference

Live Staff Dashboard brings the current qualifying driver, run scores, published battle decisions and season standings into one read-only browser view.

Commentators can check the current driver and available context. Stream staff can consult published results when preparing their next on-air segment. Event coordinators can check competition progress without asking the judge operator to repeat every update.

The dashboard does not assign tasks, call drivers, switch OBS scenes or control servers. Keep those actions with the responsible staff and their existing tools.

3Distinguish a visible update from an official decision

During qualifying, check the driver identity and run number before repeating a score. During battles, wait for the published decision before announcing who advances. Pending votes are not an official outcome.

Season standings depend on confirmed, archived round results and your configured scoring rules. Check the round before using season points in an announcement. Where driver history is supplied, verify the underlying records before quoting them.

4Rehearse delays and crew handoffs

Before going live, use test data to check that staff can follow a current-driver change, a qualifying score and a published battle result in Live Staff Dashboard.

Agree what to do if the feed is delayed: ask the operator for confirmed information and use direct crew communication. Keep an offline event format and essential notes available. A dashboard reduces repeated lookups; it does not replace your crew channel or guarantee uninterrupted updates.

Common questions

Is Live Staff Dashboard only for commentators?

No. Commentators are one audience, but stream staff and event coordinators can also use its read-only competition information. It is not a staff task manager or an operational control panel.

Can staff change scores or brackets from this view?

No. Score entry, official decisions and corrections stay with the authorized competition operators in Live Judging. The dashboard follows the configured published information.
